These few days, alot of serious things really happen.
This post might be offensive to you, but i don't mean anyone particular.
It's just my personal view of some things in band.
If you don't think so, just ignored this post then.
But what i'm saying is all facts.
Honestly speaking, this year was quite a bad starting as things started to go wrong after the changing of people in the parts.
Seriously, what's the problem of blowing accompaniment parts?
In a concert band, everybody has a part.
Everybody is IMPORTANT.
Without any parts of instruments, the entire piece will sound different and incomplete.
Then if you think that part is not important, why the composer wanted to put this part?
NO MATTER how you think your previous part of the piece is nicer than your current (changed) one, you still need to play and try your best.
There's no need to give attitude and don't work hard for it.
We're ONE BAND, it's all about teamwork and supporting each other.
You shouldn't be thinking for yourself only, it's a selfish act to the whole band and you pulled everybody down.
Even if you want to be a soloist, firstly, you must also able to played your OWN parts well.
If you keep on having the attitude of 'why they change me to XXX part', then ask yourself, are you good enough yet to play? Are you ready to play this part?
sometimes, we change the people in some parts is for the sake of the section and what mr tan wants.
As mr tan said before, Playing in a band is harder than being a soloist.
Soloist, you can do anything you want when playing your solo (provided if you're really skillful enough) but playing in band, is a different matter.
We all have to do our own parts to make this song/piece complete.
We have to make sure it's in tune, dynamics have to be there, and these are all teamworks!
We have to know our own parts well and support each other.
And another thing, it's really stressed to see people crying when they can't played well.
I don't mean anything, but seriously, what's the use of crying when you can't play the part?
Cry has no use, what you can do to perfect the song is to keep on practice.
I know this feeling, i was once a junior (2 years ago), i also experience this.
And do you know that you guys are so lucky?
Your from sec 1 till now, don't even have any punishments when you blow one note / one part wrong.
We just keep on repeating the same bar all these and honestly speaking, only some can make it.
I'm saying the truth, i know i myself isn't a good player, but this is a serious thing.
Now we only JUST started to punish people, you guys like so not happy?
Do you know that when we were sec 1 coming to sec 2, we played each phrase wrong, we need to do 1 time of jumping jacks/ push-up each?
And almost all the seniors experience this, esp the sec 4s seniors.
But you guys are already damn lucky, i don't even rmb you guys kenna any punishments before when playing wrong?
and sectional should be serious, i mean if the SL/ASL/any senior conducting your, your should be serious and when individual 'testing', you shouldn't keep on laughing or what. (i know i also laugh but i will be serious when i'm being tested on the parts.)
If you have any problems of the seniors conducting, just say or what.
You want to be conducted slower, they can change.
BUT eventually, you still have to play the original speed of the piece.
Okay, i'm getting obvious of who am i saying.
But anyway, doubt the juniors wouldn't see it too.
However, i can only say, you guys have so much time, not like us and sec 4 seniors, i can everyday practice in my sec 2 life, why can't you?
If you sacrifice abit of your going out time, you should be able to practice at least for 2 hours EVERYDAY.
and PLEASE WARM UP WHEN YOU GO INTO THE BAND ROOM, if you're early, before the majors do the I-recommend or mr tan come in.
Don't just stone there or what.
Warm up, played louder please.
You guys are going to be seniors once the sec 1s come in, you should show that you can play well.
Don't be scared or what, just play.
There's nothing wrong to play wrong, i also played wrong, i also squeak.
Everybody do make mistakes, but if you didn't play loud, how do mr tan even know the mistake you make?
The best is that you know your mistake and try not to do the mistake again. (keep on trying!)
Seriously, SYF is coming soon, if you guys don't buck up and be serious, nobody could help your anymore, even if we do alot of sectionals correcting the mistakes.
What's important is your attitude.
Okay, this post will be offensive, but i don't care.
You can hate me all you want, i don't care.
